Casey has over 10 years training in competitive gymnastics, representing Australia in China,
America
and New Zealand. In 2002 Casey packed his bags, headed to Melbourne to study at
the National
Institute of Circus Arts, where he specialised in Handstands and Russian Bar.
Since graduating in 2005,
Casey works as a freelanceperformer in theatre style circus shows,
corporate acts and cabarets.
Performing his world class Handstand routine, Casey was invited
to Chatelerault, France to be involved
in the FEDEC Handstand Workshops. Casey is now a
driving force in the upcoming contemporary circus
company, ThisSideUp.
Christian has always been an acrobat, teaching himself to walk on his hands at age 6 and
jumping
off the family house. Ten years of gymnastics taught him control then in 2001 being
accepted into
The National Institute of Circus Arts, Christian found his passion. Specializing in
Hand Balancing and
Acrobatics, Christian’s highlights include Commonwealth games festival,
Love happens and an
acrobatic trip to Singapore. After performing circus in traditional,
contemporary and corporate settings,
Christian has focused his time and energy on
building the contemporary circus company ThisSideUp.
Having trained in Dance, Theatre, Gymnastics and Acrobatics, Circus just seemed like a natural
progression and a wise career choice. In 2001, James moved to Melbourne, to study and train at
The
National Institute of Circus Arts. This intensive Bachelor of Circus Arts saw him specialise in
Hand
Balancing, Duo / Group Acrobatics, and Russian Bar. James has recently returned from travels
around
Asia, India and Dubai, with a feature performance for Hugo Boss in Shanghi and India. He
has appeared on the national TV shows Rove Live (network 10), and The Price is Right. In 2006 James
turned his focus more to group and collective performance work becoming involved in ThisSideUp.
David joins the core members of ThisSideUp as the comic character of the professor in Controlled Falling Project, contributing over 20 years of performance experience. He has worked as an actor, dancer, musician, circus performer and teacher for some of Australia’s most prestigious performing arts companies including Melbourne Theatre Company, Batacuda, and Circus Oz, and has toured extensively to some of the world’s foremost festivals including Edinburgh, Glastonbury, Colombia, Hong Kong Arts Festival as well as throughout Australia.
